March is Nutrition Month in the USA
Greenstaff International is one with the USA in celebration of Nutrition Month this March. First celebrated in 1973 as a way in advocating nutrition education to the public while supporting the profession of dietetics.
Each year, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association) selects a theme for National Nutrition Month. Themes have varied throughout the years, embracing different age ranges, lifestyles, and the healthy eating trends of the day. Some of their notable campaigns include “Go Further with Food”, “Put Your Best Fork Forward”, and “Savor the Flavor of Eating Right”.
This 2022, the campaign theme is “Celebrate a World of Flavors” which embraces global cultures, cuisines, and inclusivity, plus highlights the expertise of registered dietitian nutritionists. According to registered dietitian nutritionist Libby Mills, the national spokesperson for the Academy in Philadelphia, the theme aims to celebrate the cultural heritage, traditions, and recipes from all people. She added, “it is a tasty way to nourish ourselves, learn about one another and find appreciation in our diversity."
The Academy further promotes everyone to make informed food choices and improve sound eating and physical activity lifestyles they can go along with all year long. The Academy encourages seeking the advice of RDNs – the food and nutrition specialists who can help improve personalized eating and activity plans to meet people's health objectives.
